The use of fireworks in the city has consistently increased since the legalization of some firework devices in the State of New York and in Albany County. At this point there are large illegal firework displays every night of the week causing stress to residents and pets for hours at a time and placing homes in significant danger. Everyone has the right to peacefully enjoy this city but inconsiderate residents continue to make our neighborhoods sound like war zones. We must come together to create a strategy to address fireworks in our community including pushing for legislative changes to reban fireworks and restrict sales in nearby states to New York residents.
